The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, and members of Parliament Susan Truppe (London North Centre) and Ed Holder (London West) meet with workers and other representatives of General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS) while visiting the company's cutting-edge manufacturing facilities.

During his remarks in London, Minister Fast provided an overview of the Harper Government's pro-trade plan and outlined efforts to open new markets, noting that the government is pursuing trade talks with some of the largest, most dynamic and fastest-growing economies in the world, including India, Japan, the European Union and the countries that make up the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

GDLS is a world leader in light armoured vehicle platforms and subsystem integration in the defence industry.

According to a 2011 KPMG LLP study, the Canadian defence and security industrial base consists of more than 2,000 firms, with the industry generating a total of $12.6 billion of economic activity annually.
